Dear SRCS Crew, A long overdue thank you to the Gendarme, particularly Travis, for the best climbing instruction (not to mention the most fun) I've ever had. Travis, you were terrific...patient, encouraging, safe, and just plain enjoyable to spend a couple days with. I still can't get over how much I learned in two days. I'd love to make it back to Seneca to do a little more climbing before the summer is out, but in the mean time, I'll keep trying to stir up some instruction/folks to climb with here in Charlottesville. Massey, if you ever find yourself on this side of the Alleghenies and want to do some guiding, I'd love it. p.s. the swimming hole was awesome - a lot more chilly than the ones near me!

Climbing can get you into tough situations. Our self-rescue courses can show you how to get out of them. We are offering 2 two day self-rescue courses this September. One of these courses will be geared towards leaders and very competent seconds who have little experience with self-rescue skills (SR 100). The other will be for leaders who are proficient with basic rescue techniques but want to learn more advanced techniques (SR 200). Each of these weekend long courses will be limited to four students. At a cost of $225 these courses are $100 less than scheduling a self-rescue course.
